As we move into spring not only is the weather getting warmer, the days are getting longer, and many happy couples are getting ready for the special day. For the younger generation we are entering prom season the highlight for a lot of high school Juniors and Seniors.
While a wedding and prom are two different things. We can see somethings that are similar. Everyone gathers for a meal prior to dancing. Lots and lots of pictures. Memories are made and people have a good time. All that being said here are a few things to think about if you are a student or if you are an advisor helping plan the event.
- Proms (or most school dances) have a theme. Themes can be a fun way to engage everyone in attendance. Embrace the theme. Plan decorations at the event and, if you have a court, decorate the crowns to match.
- People like pictures and with how involved social media is in everyday life it is easy to gather and share all of the pictures from the event. Come up with a hashtag for your prom to be used with any picture. You can then use any number of web services that will collect images from all kinds of social media sites and present them in an easy way to share.
- Just have fun. If you are part of the planning process it can be stressful. Trust the people you have in place to do things. The caterer, photographer, DJ, and any one else that is hired are professionals. They have experience and will keep your prom running smoothly. Just relax and have fun
