We recently had the opportunity to provide entertainment for Derek & Kate. Their wedding was at the recently renovated Holiday Inn Milwaukee Riverfront Hotel in Glendale, WI. The banquet hall was very modern with very artsy light fixtures and had views of the riverfront along with a cozy fireplace on the outdoor patio. (You wanted to go outside and grab a hot chocolate and socialize.)
Derek and Kate let their personalities shine at their wedding by adding a personal touch. For starters, LEGO superhero mini-figurines adorned the groom’s boutonniere and the bride’s bouquet. They also hid LEGO superhero mini-figurines in many of the table centerpieces. The grand march was announced to “The Imperial March” from Star Wars and the bridal party came out holding lightsabers. The bride and groom had practiced ballroom dancing to their first dance and coordinated it to make it look very professional. It was great!
For the mother-son dance, it started off with a classic slow song, which Derek danced with his mother. After about the first minute, the music made a quick change up and both the Derek and his mom tore up the dance floor with dance moves to “Watch Me Whip” by Silento. The crowd was applauding and cheering them on throughout the song. What a fun mother-son dance!
During the evening a photo booth was available for guests to take funny, zany and crazy pictures with a ton of props including hats, sunglasses, masks, comic book style speech bubbles and more. The groom is also an avid player of the card game “Magic The Gathering” and had a certain table designated for game play at the back of the room. Game winners got to keep the winning playing deck.
It was a spectacular wedding and what really made it fun was that they had so much creativity put into the entire evening! Thanks Derek & Kate for letting us be a part of your special day!
